Sen. Green addresses Second Amendment advocates at the state Capitol

LANSING—State Sen. Mike Green on Wednesday addressed a crowd gathered on the Capitol steps in support of the Second Amendment and responsible gun owners. Each year, hundreds of Second Amendment, open-carry and self-defense advocates travel to Lansing to express their support to state legislators.

“I have always been a proponent of our Second Amendment rights. Our citizens have a right to bear arms; it is not just a privilege, but a right mandated by our Constitution,” said Green, R-Mayville. “I have worked on solidifying the rights of Michigan’s gun owners since 1999 when, as a state representative, I introduced legislation to make Michigan a ‘shall issue’ state. Recently, Governor Snyder signed Senate Bill 34, now Public Act 3, which finally brings Michigan in line with other true ‘shall issue’ states.”

Several other speakers also were also highlighted at the event, including Senate Majority Leader Arlan Meekhof and Sens. Dave Hildenbrand and Rick Jones.
