LANSING—State Sen. Mike Green announced that his Lansing office is open and that he is looking forward to hitting the ground running when the Senate convenes its first session on Wednesday, Jan. 12. Green will be sworn into office on that day.
“I want everyone to know that we are here, and we are already working hard for the people in the district,” said Green, R-Mayville. “We have a lot of challenges and tough choices ahead of us, but I am optimistic that we will turn Michigan around.”
Green recently was appointed to serve on the Senate Appropriations Committee, where he will serve as chairman of the Agriculture Subcommittee, the Department of Natural Resources Subcommittee and the Department of Environmental Quality Subcommittee. He is also a member of the Committee on Banking and Financial Institutions, and the Committee on Natural Resources, Environment and Great Lakes.
Green said he is pleased with his committee assignments.
“Natural resources and agriculture are crucial to our local economy and important to our economic recovery,” said Green. “I am eager to roll up my sleeves and use these committee assignments to reform state government, pass a balanced budget and encourage economic growth.”
